"But yes, keep chasing the missing girl who entered the Soul Space."

The "Interdimensional Girl" Vella Wilde is a main character in YIIK and Deviation Perspective I. She's a talented musician and familiar with the Soul Space.

Personality[edit | edit source]

Vella also has an air of maturity around her. She practices sensitivity when it comes to rorys dead sister. Comforting him, and providing intel and support while confronted with his own soul survivor (which at this point, rory believed to be the soul of his dead sister. She commonly refers to the group in the earlier chapter as "you boys". Even if she isn't technically that much older than people within the group (3/5 age gap, with even characters like Claudio being older.) She still is treated and takes on a role as an older and more educated individual.

Through Vella's Mind Dungeon we learn that Vella is very self conscious, and overtly critical of herself. Especially when it comes to her former job as a musician. Her entire mind dungeon is convicing different variations of her mind to play in a bad. Each represents a different insecurity of hers around her creativity and performance. Different manifestations of herself saying things such as "I'm literally the worst drummer ever. and Look, It's not that I don't feel like playing guitar tonight.. It's just that I'm nervouse.

After her mind dungeon, Vella has a vulnerable moment with the group where she plays her last song she composed before leaving her old reality. In which she is implicitly very insecure about. After the party listens she retreats from their lack of reaction. Alex goes after her and they discuss her vulnerability issues, lack of ability to open up, and mainly her past reality. After this, she changes and becomes more connected to the group. Becoming a much more socially vulnerable and overall happy person. When the party is preparing for the end of the world, shes one of the first people to agree to help Alex. During Christmas, she is much more bubbly and reminiscent of the last year. She is happy to spend what might be the last weeks of her life with her friends.

Alex[edit | edit source]

Vella has a very complex relationship with Alex. In chapter II, where we first meet Vella, she is very closed off to everyone. She is very defensive, and apathetic towards Alex. Especially after Alex and Micheal openly creep on her at her job at the arcade. She only joins the investigation into the disappearance of Sammy because of her affilation with Entitys and The Soul Space in general. In chapter II she also purposefully avoids Alex after he has an outburst at Rory. In which Alex tells Rory "No one cares about your sister right now. We almost just died ourselves!"

Even after Alex apologizes to Vella, their relationship again becomes strained from Alex finding a vinyl from her old reality, Mystical Ultima LP Legend. Vella becomes upset, and tells Alex to not involve her in the investigation into the vinyl.

It is only in late chapter III that they become closer. After Alex and his group find out from Mark that the Vinyl was actually composed by Vella, Alex knows to find the Vinyl he'll have to enter Vella's Mind Dungeon. Here their relationship becomes more intimate, as Alex learns her biggest insecurity, meets her infant self, and learns about the unfortunate story of her old reality. We find out that an alternate universe version of Alex lovebombed and abandoned Vella, resulting in her entering the Soul Space and drifting until she entered Alexs reality.

When we meet The Essentia 2000 in chapter IV, we learn that her and Vella share a soul. Combined with the knowledge of Essentia and Alex being literal "soulmates", it turns out that both Alex and Vella are naturally drawn together by "fate".

(As much as it turns out that all of Alexs friends are fated to meet him, Essentia specifically words her connection with Semmi Pak and Vella Wilde to manipulate Alex. This does not discredit how much Essentia progresses the relationship between Alex and Vella though.)

When Vella is informed of her connection to Alex via Essentia, their relationship furthers even more. Vella is very open to the idea of her and Essentia being one in the same. Commonly refering to both her and Essentia as "I" or "me".

Players are also presented with the option to kiss either Vella or Essentia. In which they both reciprocate similar romantic (or otherwise intimate) feelings for Alex.

Rory[edit | edit source]

Vella seems to care a lot about Rory. When Rory says he feels his sister's presence, Vella already seems to have a grasp of what he's talking about. When face to face with Rory's Soul Survivor, Vella tries to give words of comfort to him.

Story[edit | edit source]

YIIK[edit | edit source]

Vella was considered a child prodigy due to her music composition skills. When she grew up, her music remained "childlike," disappointing the people who believed she would be greater. Despite this, Vella still enjoyed playing music. On May 22nd, 1996, she went to a music club and met someone who would become both their music and romantic partner. They both wrote A Distant Voice together. A year later, on May 22nd, 1997, his daughter saw them together. He walked his daughter to a coffee shop, only to not return. Vella called his manager, friends, and others but they all hadn't seen him anywhere. Another year passes, and on May 22nd, 1998, Vella was pressured to do a year long tour for A Distant Voice. While playing the piano, she saw him with a girl, who looked about his daughter's age. Vella refused to believe this was the same person she had dated, and grew into an immense depression. It was then her soul separated from her physical body, and she entered the Soul Space, hoping to find a reality with the "him" she knew.

Alex first sees her when he and Michael make a quick stop by the Frankton Arcade on their way to the Factory Hotel, working as a "Change Girl". Later, pictures of her show up on an ONISM post MYSTERIOUS GIRL WITH MIND POWERS ONISM Logo. When approached about her appearance in the post, she mistakenly believes Alex and Michael to be creeping on her and attacks them. After this encounter they explain themselves and ask Vella about the post. Here, Vella reveals to them that she is from a different reality than the one she is currently in. When pressured for more details on this, Vella tells them that it's personal and doesn't elaborate.

In Vella's previous reality, she created an album called the Mystical Ultima LP Legend. Alex, after gaining her trust, enters her Mind Dungeon to look for it. There, Alex finds five different Vella's from different points of her life.

Vella's Reality[edit | edit source]

In her reality, Vella explains that it's similar but has a few odd changes, "Things are mostly the same. We had more cows though. Lots of cows. And the music? Different. Your "Metal" is our "Pop." Isn't that weird?" In her reality, you're able to call the dead, using special phones.
