Soul Survivor

Soul Survivors, also known as an Entity, are physical manifestations of a human's soul whose realities have been destroyed. If a person with their soul already exists in the reality, they can co-exist as a Soul Survivor.[1] If the person with the same soul leaves the reality, the Soul Survivor can take their place. This is seen with Vella, where after Sammy left the reality, Vella was able to reside in the reality instead.[2]
They are able to traverse the Soul Space and other realities at will.
Soul Survivors are easily identified with their lanky limbs, a spiral-like design on their face, and a triangle insignia on their chest. The triangle might represent the Eye of Providence. While not consistent for every Entity, some are made up of stars/space which move around the entity's body.
Story[edit | edit source]
Alex's first encounter with them was when he saw them kidnapping Sammy, while she begged them to "not move me again." He later investigates where it happened with Michael, where they manage to find a lone Entity which attacks them. While running for their lives, they manage to take a few pictures of the Entity before uploading it onto ONISM. Interestingly, the pictures they took appear distorted, implying that the Soul Survivor's presence warps camera lenses.
It isn't until they meet Vella that they learn what they actually are. Since she has had first-hand experience with the Entities (albeit limited, in her own words), she is considered the primary source of information about them. After entering the Soul Space, Vella encountered an Entity for the first time and had a conversation with it. While she never elaborated on the details, something she said upset it and it grabbed her. Vella broke free from its grasp, but the following week she suffered from intense pain.
Combat[edit | edit source]
Soul Survivors are protected by a supernatural force, and thus must be dealt with in special ways.
Vella must banish them, which removes them from a battle. The Essentia 2000's blade can slice through them with ease. Rory's Protest can be effective if they start with low maximum LIFE. Chondra can use Chuck Item to deal damage as well. Michael can use his gun to kill it if he's the last man standing, or if his party is blinded (which can be done by using Dazzle Party.)
In the Old Battle Mode, when Vella banishes entities, they later re-appear behind a door inside of Alex's Mind Dungeon. Rory's reflect when using Pacifism can also deal damage towards them. Michael's Mug Shot can inflict them with Sick.

- ↑ "A Soul Survivor is a soul that has left his physical form, as well as his reality, and entered into a world where a physical version of his or her soul already exists. Normally when you abandon your physical form, you become an omnipotent entity, who exists just in their own reality. You can't return to your body once you've left it behind. Soul Survivors are Souls whose realities have been destroyed and they manage to leave their reality in hope of finding a physical form." - Vella Wilde
