New York City is the city that Alex and his friends go to on New Years Eve to go see the ball drop for Y2K and party for the new year. To Alex though, it is the final area he visits before everyone dies. New York is accessible at the end of Chapter 5, and once you leave for New York, you can never go back.
New York only contains one encounter, that being the Proto Comet (accompanied by two Soul Survivors) who crashes into Times Square once Alex gets close enough.
Little Eyes plays as you explore NY, at least until Alex fights the Comet.
When entering the Subway for the first time, Chondra, Michael, and Vella are seen descending the stairs to the train. Chondra walks down them normally, Michael glides down them like an escalator, and Vella does a funny little dance on the way down.
In case you're itching to know the most frivolous of trivia, it took about 30 seconds to animate Vella's silly jig.[1]
Sporting Goods Unlimited is the only shop that sells the Masamune, a weapon for Claudio, although it won't get much use after you buy it.
When checking the hint in Times Square, it says that "You've made a mistake. You should have checked ONISM1999 and found Sammy," hinting towards Ending 2.
