Jocasta is a character introduced in YIIK I.V. She is a shopkeeper who sells different types of keys throughout the game, as well as being somewhat of a mascot in official merch sales. Her name is in reference to Jocasta of Greek Mythology, who married her son, Oedipus.

Jocasta bares a resemblance to the Essentia, with green hair and red eyes. She also plays a similar mother-like role. She is overtly sexual, often using innuendo and even dressing in lingerie in order to flirt with Alex.

Story

Jocasta is first met while Alex is chasing after Dali. She interrupts Alex's chase to teach him the rules of the Dark Game, which serves as YIIK I.V's new battle system. During this, Alex is entirely entranced by her, even allowing her to poke a syringe through his skin to take his blood.

She also resides in the Mind Dungeon, and teaches Alex about Foils, which require keys to open. She first requests Alex to give her his heart for the first key. Afterwards, Alex must give her fetuses scattered throughout the the Mind Dungeon in exchange for keys to open Foils. This can be interpreted as a bit of sexual innuendo of Alex giving her his "babies."

Starting in Chapter 3, Jocasta can be found on Alex's bed, wearing red lingerie. She asks for a plastic baby doll, which can be found in Alex's Mom's Bedroom. Once traded, she will give Alex the Cursed Goggles, allowing Alex to see some of her friends from other realities. This event can also be activated in a short time period in Chapter 5, right before the calendar segment starts.

In Chapter 6, she has blue hair instead of green. This may be a reference to how in previous versions, a Boing Boing (which are blue) was here instead. It may also be a reference to the blue Essentia which briefly appears in Chapter 4. She sells Alex the keys at her "Useless Junk" shop needed to progress through the area. Alex can also sell the Broken Record to her to get the Legends of Ragnarok LP in return.

Trivia

• "You're doomed—may you never fathom who you are!" is the second to last line spoken by Jocasta in the play Oedipus Rex.
• The card stuffed in her bra is an earlier design for The Sorrowful Maiden.
• If the Old Battle Mode is enabled, Jocasta will not appear at the Windmill Trail or the Mind Dungeon.
