Ackk Studios is a development team officially founded by Andrew Allanson and Brian Allanson in 2010.[1] They incorporated in 2013.[2] Before then, they would make games when they were really young- as early as the 2000s.[3]

In 2008, the brothers would meet Ian Bailey,[4] who would later became apart of the team as a level designer in 2012.[5]

Brian would make mockup Game Boy screenshots as a passtime, and soon realized the potential to make a video game. In 2012, Brian, Andrew, and Ian decided to get together again to develop Two Brothers.[4]

Two Brothers[edit | edit source]

In August 2012, they announced their first project Two Brothers, an action RPG.[4] They crowdfunded the game on Kickstarter in order to buy more equipment and tools for the game. They earned $16,257 in funds, more than double what they asked for. The game released on November 11th, 2013 for $14.99.[6] It later released for Steam on December 3rd, 2013.[7]

A remake of the game called Chromophore (also known as the "Two Brothers Director's Cut") was teased on June 9th, 2014. It would run on the Unity engine and be ported to Wii U.[8] It has remained unreleased as of now due to a lot of issues during the development of the remake. One of these involved a company which was going to port the game to consoles, but the partnership faded with a barely finished port.[9]Additionally, a member who worked on the original game wanted more royalties for the Wii U port, causing additional issues with releasing the game.[10] With money lost and time being spent, Ackk pushed forward with the development of their next game: YIIK: A Postmodern RPG.

Their next project was YIIK: A Postmodern RPG. Since it was the teams first time making a 3D game,[Citation Needed] the game had a lengthy development period.

NintendoLife - Chromophore: The Two Brothers is Still Heading to Wii U, Developer Explains Delay: "The circumstances around the delay have been particularly unfortunate - a third party had been paid to complete the conversion work from the PC build, yet it wasn't even near finished before the partnership broke down; this is despite money being paid for the port. It's been a legal issue and has taken an extensive period of time to resolve, and Ackkstudios itself has had to continue the work under the trying circumstances of also being committed to its next project - YIIK: A Postmodern RPG."
